We recently did an activity, during which we had a class discussion about swimming safety based on a pop-up book that I created.
The main points that I wanted to convey
to the students are
1) Keep all glass objects away from the pool area.
2)Make sure you have adult permission and supervision.
3)Don't dive at the shallow end of a pool or into a shallow pool.
4)If someone is drowning--get help right away.
The students enjoyed listening to the story, and we took a field trip to the local community swimming pool at the end of the week to put these safety rules into . Each child later made his or her own pop-up book after our science lesson on animals.
